Ramón Martínez López was born in Boiro in 1907 and died in Pontevedra in 1989. A philologist and politician, he was the founder of the Galician Studies Seminar and the Galician Party.

La Cachada is the green lung of the urban nucleus. Some 40 species of native Galician trees, including pines, yews and camellias, make up a beautiful forest. The place is also common for holding parties, concerts and pilgrimages.
